Did you know it's National Payroll Week?

Posted by Human Resources on September 10, 2012 in Community Highlights

Getting paid for the work we do is something we all recognize as very important, but how many of us really think about how that happens seamlessly every month? That’s what National Payroll Week is all about.

Here at Dalhousie, there are nine members of the Payroll Team who are responsible for ensuring we all get paid today, tomorrow and every pay. In 2011, the team paid $325 million in wages and taxable benefits (total payroll) to more than 5,700 university employees.

“National Payroll Week is a great way for payroll professionals to be recognized for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year,” says Jenny White, manager, Payroll & Information Systems. “Most employees don't think about the payroll professionals who prepare their pay cheques unless something goes wrong, so it is really nice to get positive recognition for one week a year.”

This week, take time to say hello to a payroll staff member or thank them for all that they do for you and the university. The Payroll Office, a part of the Human Resources team, is temporarily located at 5248 Morris Street until Spring 2013.

Visit the HR website for more information related to payroll, including forms, timesheets and contact information.
