Parking passes for 2012‑13

Posted by Dal Security on August 24, 2012 in General Announcements

Dalhousie general parking passes, as well as renewals for reserved passes, will be going on sale this coming Monday, August 27 at 6:30 a.m. – both in person and, now, online as well.

But you can take your time purchasing your pass – as announced at recent Transportation and Parking Town Halls, there is no cap on general passes this year, and also a new online system for purchasing.

Our new website—http://parkingpermit.dal.ca—allows you to order your pass from your home or office. Passes will also be available from the Security Services’ office in the parkade of the Marion McCain Arts and Social Sciences Building (6135 University Avenue).

Please note that parking regulations and practices at Dalhousie’s new Agricultural Campus will remain unchanged this year from their status quo as NSAC. The details below apply only to Dalhousie’s Studley, Carleton and Sexton Campuses.

Parking rates for 2012-13

The rates for this coming year are available on the Facilities Management parking website: http://fm.dal.ca/security/parking_information.htm

Purchasing your pass

Both walk-up sales and online sales will start at 6:30 a.m. Monday morning. The website for online purchases is http://parkingpermit.dal.ca (NetID and password required)

Employees who purchase online will receive their pass through Dal campus mail. Students who purchase online will pick up their pass at the Security Services office.

Processing for both student and employee permits online will take 4-5 days. If you don’t have your permit for September 1, don’t worry – permits for 2011/12 will be recognized for the first couple of weeks in September, or you can print off your online confirmation email and place it on your vehicle’s dashboard.

Reserved passes

Those with reserved spots or passes will have the opportunity to renew their permit, online or in person, starting Monday. The parking office will be emailing current pass holders on Friday with further details.

Ride Share

A quick reminder about Dalhousie’s Ride Share program, which offers a reserved parking space to students or employees who commit to sharing a vehicle. This year, we are changing our policy so that a vehicle only requires a minimum of two (rather than three) full-time students or employees, each of whom must be eligible to purchase a parking pass. The applicants also cannot reside at the same residential address.

If you have questions about the Ride Share program, or wish to sign up, please call our office at 494-6400 or drop into the McCain parkade.
