The 2025 QS World University Subject Rankings, released this week, show Dalhousie rising slightly in one broad subject area and maintaining strength in several others.
The university rose three spots to 207 in the ranking's Life Sciences & Medicine category and placed in the top 200 globally in nine specific subject areas.
This year’s QS ranking includes data from 1,747 universities — out of 5,200 considered in 148 locations — across 55 narrow subjects and five broad areas. Rankings are based on analysis of reputation and research output.
A total of 52 subjects were analyzed for Dal, with 26 achieving scores high enough to warrant ranking – the most subjects the university has ever had included. Of these, 25 were included in the top 500, 17 in the top 400, 14 in the top 300, nine in the top 200, and one in the top 100.
In Canada, Dal ranked among the top 10 universities in eight specific subject areas.
