Cindy Tye, Dalhousie Tigers women’s soccer head coach, has been called up as interim head coach of the Canadian Women’s National Team for their November FIFA international window.

Tye, who just wrapped her eighth season with the Tigers, is also the associate director of athletics and recreation at Dalhousie and the Canada Soccer U20 Women’s Team head coach.

“I am grateful for Dalhousie and Tim [Maloney] whose support lends me the opportunity to develop and experience a great opportunity,” says Tye. “It offers me the chance to grow and bring back what I've learned to my players, staff, and our programs."

“We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Cindy’s calibre as part of our leadership team and coaching group at Dalhousie,” says Maloney. “She has continually demonstrated her ability to lead on the international stage with the U20’s and this is the next exciting chapter on her journey.  This experience will be another meaningful development opportunity for Cindy which will only mean great things for our program at Dal.”

The November camp will take place in Murcia, Spain and will feature two international friendlies versus 13th ranked Iceland on November 29 and 19th ranked Korea Republic on December 3. The Canadian women are currently ranked sixth in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings. Both games will be available to stream on OneSoccer.

The Tigers finished the 2024 AUS campaign in fifth place, before falling to Memorial in the quarterfinals. They then hosted the 2024 BMO U SPORTS Women’s Soccer Championship in November at Wickwire Field.
