Dalhousie University presents our PepsiCo Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 13, 2022.

Ella Hornby, Volleyball

Second-year middle blocker Ella Hornby is this week’s female PepsiCo Athlete of the Week.

Ella led the Tigers to a three-match sweep of the Memorial Sea-Hawks this past weekend.

She recorded nine kills and three blocks for 12 points in the Tigers 3-0 win over the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks Friday night.

Ella added another six kills, two blocks and two aces to lead the Tigers to a second three-set defeat of the Sea-Hawks and earned Subway Player of the Game Honours in the process.

In their third and final match of the weekend, Ella had seven kills and three blocks for nine points to help lead the Tigers to a 3-0 win.

A kinesiology student, Ella is from Calgary, Alta.

Shamar Burrows, Basketball

Fifth-year guard Shamar Burrows is this week’s male PepsiCo Athlete of the Week.

Shamar averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game during a two-game stint in St. John’s, Newfoundland this past weekend.

He scored 19 points in the Tigers 102-72 win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks Sunday afternoon and added 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Shamar also had a great game on Saturday, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in the Tigers 101-90 loss to the Sea-Hawks.

A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Shamar is an MA Public Administration student.
