(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University presents our MUSCLE MLK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 30, 2018.

Sofia Nicolls, Soccer

First-year striker Sofia Nicolls is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Sofia scored her first AUS career goal over the weekend.

She scored the Tigers second goal of the night and earned an assist on the third. She recorded a total of three shots on net and earned Subway Player of the Game honours in the Tigers 3-0 win over the visiting Mount Allison Mounties.

A science student, Sofia is from Vancouver, B.C.

Freddy Bekkers, Soccer

Fourth-year midfielder Freddy Bekkers is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.

Freddy was an offensive force for the Tigers this past weekend.

He earned Sunway Player of the Game honours after scoring two goals and an assist in the Tigers 6-0 win over the Mount Allison Mounties Friday night at home. He had five shots in the game, three of them on net.

Freddy is currently tied for second in goals scored in the AUS with four.

A native of Halifax, N.S., Freddy is an engineering student.
