Courtney Baker, Volleyball

Third-year setter Courtney Baker is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Courtney led the Tigers to a 2-1 record at the University of Alberta tournament last week.

She had 51 assists, 16 digs, six blocks, four kills and three aces in their 3-2 win over the Mount Royal Cougars. The next day, Courtney added another 26 assists, 12 digs, seven kills and three aces to her tally in their 3-1 loss to the host Pandas.

On the final day of competition, Courtney led the Tigers to their second win of the tournament with 34 assists, five digs, three blocks and one ace.

A kinesiology student, Courtney is from Bridgewater, N.S.

Corbin Boes, Hockey

Fourth-year goaltender Corbin Boes is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.

Corbin led the Tigers to a win and a loss this weekend.

In Saturday’s 5-2 win over the UPEI Panthers, he played the full 60 minutes and turned away 37 of the 39 shots he faced. He was hot again on Sunday, making 44 saves in the Tigers 3-0 loss to the UNB Varsity Reds. He earned the second star of the game for his efforts.

Corbin currently boasts a .899 save percentage, good for fourth in the AUS.

A native of Saskatoon, S.K., Corbin is a commerce student.
