Phoebe Lenderyou, Swimming

Third-year swimmer Phoebe Lenderyou is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

Phoebe had a fantastic weekend in the pool, leading the Tigers to a first-place team finish at the Kemp-Fry Innovational at Dalplex.

She won the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and 50m butterfly events in U Sports qualifying times this weekend. She set new Dal and Nova Scotia senior swim records in the 50m butterfly and was a member of all three winning relays.

Lenderyou’s performance ranks her in the country’s top three in all three backstroke events.

A management student, Lenderyou is from Newcastle, England.

Kristen O’Brien, Volleyball

Fifth-year outside hitter Kristen O’Brien is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

Kristen led the Tigers to a weekend sweep over the UNB Varsity Reds in Fredericton, N.B.

In Friday night’s 3-2 victory, he had 23 kills, eight digs and five blocks for 25.5 total points in the match. He was hot again on Saturday with 23.5 total points after posting 20 kills, four blocks and 11 digs in the Tigers 3-2 win.

O’Brien was the Subway Player of the Game in both matches and is currently ninth in the country in points per set.

A native of Truro, N.S., O’Brien is a kinesiology student.
