(Halifax, N.S.) Dalhousie University presents our G2 Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 6, 2016.

Diedre Alexander, Basketball

Second-year guard Diedre Alexander is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

Diedre led the Tigers AUS playoff run at Scotiabank Centre over the weekend.

She had a game-high 20 points in the Tigers 56-69 loss to the Cape Breton Capers in the second AUS championship quarter-final. She went 9-13 in field goals and added three rebounds, two assists and two steals in the effort, earning her a spot on AUS championship all-star team.

Diedre is from Woodstock, N.B., and is an arts student.

Kashrell Lawrence, Basketball

Fourth-year forward Kashrell Lawrence is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

Kashrell was named the AUS championship MVP for the second year in a row after helping to lead the Tigers to a second-consecutive AUS championship title.

In Saturday night’s semifinal, Kashrell had a game-high 31 points in the Tigers 75-74 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies. He added six rebounds and two steals in the win, punching the Tigers ticket to the final.

On Sunday, he had 14 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two assists in the Tigers 87-85 win over the UPEI Panthers.

An AUS second team all-star this year, Kashrell was named to the championship all-star team and the MVP.

A native of Brampton, O.N., Kashrell is a commerce student.
