(Halifax, N.S.) Dalhousie University presents our G2 Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 31, 2016.

Colleen Wilson, Track and Field

Second-year runner Colleen Wilson is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

Colleen had two second place finishes at the McGill Team Challenge this past weekend.

She placed second in both the 1500m and 3000me events. She ran a 4:29.74 in the 1500m race and a 9:36.75 in the 3000m. Her time in the 3000m ranks her third in CIS standings.

Colleen is from Ancaster, O. N., and is an oceanography student.

Ritchie Kanza Mata, Basketball

Fourth-year guard Ricthie Kanza Mata is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

Ritchie’s leadership and solid defensive play continues to be the driving force in the Tigers season and led the Tigers to an 87-68 win over the Acadia Axemen on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Centre.

He had a great night on the court with a game-high 23 points, 16 of which he scored in the fourth quarter, including three consecutive three-point shots. He added seven assists in the four-point game which has left the Tigers in sole possession of the top spot in the AUS standings with a 10-4 record.

A native of Toronto, O.N., Ritchie is an arts student.
