(Halifax, NS) Dalhousie University presents our G2 Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 28, 2014.

Marisa Mota, Volleyball

Third-year libero Marisa Mota is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

Mota led the Tigers to a 3-1 record at the Russell Investments Dalhousie Women’s Volleyball Invitational this past weekend. She recorded nine digs and passed a 1.9 (out of three) in Friday night’s 3-1 victory of the Acadia Axewomen. On Saturday, she passed a 2.14 and notched 15 digs in the Tigers 3-0 sweep of Moncton, earning her player of the game honours. Later in the day, she had 20 digs and passed a 1.87 in the Tigers 1-3 loss to the Memorial Sea-Hawks. In the Tigers final match on Sunday, Mota recorded 23 digs and passed a 1.9 as they defeated Saint Mary’s 3-1.

Mota was named the MVP of the tournament after collecting 67 digs and averaging a 1.9 service receive over the course of the weekend.

An arts student, Marisa is from Kitchener, ON.

Ryan Lewars, Soccer

Fifth-year defender Ryan Lewars is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

Lewars scored his first goal of the season in the Tigers 4-1 loss to the Cape Breton Capers on Saturday. This is Lewars’ first year with the Tigers after playing four seasons with Cape Breton.

A native of Ottawa, ON, Ryan is an arts student.
