The Tigers (2-1-2) moved into a tie for third place in the AUS after recording two draws this weekend in a two-game road trip. After getting down 1-0 early in the first half on Saturday, Bezick Evraire scored two goals within an eight minute span in the second half to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Their lead was quickly erased however as Ian Greedy of the Capers scored just three minutes later to tie the game at two. The Tigers held off a barrage of chances by the Capers and held on for the 2-2 draw.
At StFX on Sunday, both teams had their fair share of chances but neither team could find the back of the net as the teams played to a 0-0 draw. Tristen Leopold made five saves to record his second shutout of the season and is still yet to allow a goal this season, making him one of only two AUS keepers to play in more than one game and not allow a goal.
The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday when they face the Saint Mary’s Huskies at home at 7:15pm.
Women’s Soccer
It was a tough start for the Tigers (2-2-1) this weekend as they fell 5-0 to the Cape Breton Capers. The Tigers allowed three goals in a seven-minute span in the first half and just couldn’t seem to contain the relentless Capers attack.
It was a different story on Sunday as they faced the StFX X-Women where Sam MacDonald scored her first goal of the season to give the Tigers an early lead in the 14th minute. The X-Women came right back with a goal of their own and made the game 1-1. It wasn’t until the 74th minute when Victoria Parkinson fired a shot past the StFX keeper which gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead, which they would not give up as they went on to win 2-1.
They’ll be back on the pitch Wednesday as they face the Saint Mary’s Huskies at Wickwire Field at 5:00pm.
Women’s Hockey
The Tigers started off their pre-season with a pair of tough losses. On Saturday, a third period goal by Megan Ross wasn’t enough as the Tigers fell 2-1 to the StFX X-Women after giving up two second period goals. The Tigers recorded 25 shots but couldn’t seem to capitalize on their chances, as they went 0-8 on the power play.
