Dalhousie University women’s basketball head coach Anna Stammberger is pleased to announce the commitment of Abigail MacDonald to the Tigers 2014-15 roster.
A 5’7” guard, MacDonald has been a long-time New Brunswick provincial basketball team member, culminating in a trip to the Canada Games last summer. Their team captain, she was chosen as the team’s MVP after helping them to a seventh place finish.
A four-year member of the Kennebecasis Valley High School basketball team, MacDonald led her team in scoring this past season, collecting a total of 627 points and averaging 18 points per game. She has twice been named the AAA South Conference player of the year and a New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association Conference all-star. She was her team’s MVP during her grade 11 year.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Tigers family next fall,” says MacDonald. “Having the opportunity to attend such a highly renowned university and being a varsity athlete is an honour. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year as I continue my academic and basketball career with the Dalhousie Tigers.”
The Quispamsis, NB native is a high honours student and has been accepted to Dalhousie’s nursing program.
“Abby’s been a leader on every team she’s ever belonged to and I believe she’ll also be one of our future leaders both in the classroom and on the court,” says Stammberger. “Her leadership skills combined with her terrific work ethic will serve her well here at Dalhousie.”
