The Dalhousie Tigers will be welcoming Shalyn Field to the women’s basketball line-up next season.
Field is a 5’10” guard who will graduate from Sackville High this year. She was a member of Team Nova Scotia’s U17 provincial team that captured a silver medal at nationals in 2012.
Shalyn began her high school career with Halifax West, and earned the team’s Rookie of the Year honour and the Metro High School Rookie of the Year award for her solid play in 2010-11. She was also named the Most Valuable Player for Sackville High last season.
Field is also a standout in the classroom, earning honour roll status in her first two years of high school. She is enrolled in Dalhousie’s Kinesiology program and is eager to get started with the Tigers squad. “I’m pretty excited that I’m going to become a Tiger, and I cannot wait to wear the black and gold,” beams Field.
Head coach of the Tigers Anna Stammberger is equally pleased to have Shalyn on the roster. “We're very excited about Shalyn joining the Dalhousie community and Tiger family. Shalyn is a serious student with high academic and athletic goals, an outstanding teammate and guard with strong passing and scoring skills who will make an impact immediately on our team and in the AUS.”
