Men’s Basketball
StFX 59 @ DAL 85

After ending 2012 as the Rod Shoveller Memorial Tournament champions, the men’s basketball team started off strong in 2013 with a 85-59 victory over the X-Men last weekend. Initially down 20-16 to StFX in the first quarter, Dal came back strong and led the remaining three quarters for the win.

Women’s Basketball
StFX 64 @ DAL 71; DAL 77 @ Lakehead 52;

Over the holidays Dal found undefeated success at the Thunder Selects Holiday Classic, recording victories over Lakehead (77-52), Thunder Selects (91-51), and Manitoba (91-51). The first test of the new year last weekend was a tough game against StFX. With Keisha Brown and Courtney Thompson leading the team in scoring, the black and gold earned a 71-64 win that pushed them into a tie with Acadia for second place in the AUS standings.

Men’s Hockey
DAL 1 @ UPEI 2 (OT), DAL 0 @ UNB 3

Starting off 2013 on the road, the men’s hockey team travelled to UPEI and UNB. An action packed game versus the Panthers saw Dal with an early lead, but UPEI tied it up soon after. In overtime the Tigers fell short 2-1. On Saturday evening the men faced off against AUS No. 1 UNB. Despite Dal’s best efforts, they were down 3-0 after the first period. The Tigers defense kept the Varsity Reds scoreless in the remaining periods, but were unable to make up the goals, losing  3-0.

Men’s Volleyball
DAL 0 @ Thompson Rivers 3; DAL 0 @ Pepperdine 3;
DAL 3 @ Regina 0; DAL 1 @ MRU 3; DAL 1 @ Brandon 3

Over the holidays Dal battled weather to get to Kamloops, B.C. for exhibition games against Thompson Rivers and Pepperdine. Despite their best efforts, the travel-weary Tigers fell 3-0 in both matches. Next the team participated in the Mount Royal Winter Volleyball Classic where they were successful against Regina with a 3-0 win, but faced 3-1 losses to both the host and Brandon.
