Dalhousie volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the addition of Carsten Moeller to the 2012-13 lineup.

A 6’4” setter from Brisbane, Australia, Moeller joins the Tigers for the winter semester on an international exchange in Civil Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology. Moeller is a former member of Australia’s junior national team and NAIT college in Edmonton, Alta where he played for the 2010-11 season.

“I anticipate that the addition of Moeller will have a huge impact on our team,” says Ota. “We are adding an athlete with international experience to the most important position on the floor. It will take some time for Moeller to familiarize himself with his new teammates, but having talked to our players, there is a lot of excitement about him joining the team.”

Over the holidays the team is set to compete in a tournament at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C. from December 29-30 and then at Mount Royal in Calgary, Alta. from January 2-4. Moeller will join the team for the first time at Thompson Rivers.

“I'm really looking forward to continuing my studies through this exchange while competing in volleyball at such a high level,” Moeller says. “This unique combination is not possible in Australia. Also, I can't wait to explore Halifax and Atlantic Canada.”

The Tigers currently lead the AUS standings with a 6-4 record after the first semester. Their next home match will be on January 12 when they host the Memorial Sea-Hawks at Dalplex at 8pm.
