Fourth-year forward Alex Legge has been selected as Dalhousie’s female athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance at the Dyrick McDermott Memorial Basketball Tournament, hosted by Mount Saint Vincent University.

In her first competition after missing the first half of the season recovering from a knee injury, Ms. Legge led the Tigers to the championship game with victories over Mount Saint Vincent, Vanier College and Cegep de Sainte-Foy, before losing to Acadia in the final on Sunday.

A key defender and rebounder, she was selected to the tournament all-star team for her intensity and leadership at both ends of the court.

Max Burt, volleyball

Fourth-year middle blocker Max Burt has been selected as Dalhousie’s Male Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance at the McDonald’s International Classic men’s volleyball tournament hosted by Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C.

In the Tigers first match of the tournament, Mr. Burt collected 22 kills to pace his team to a 3-1 victory over the CIS #2 ranked Calgary Dinos on Saturday, January 2. On Sunday, he led the Tigers to a 3-0 victory over the Trinity Western (CIS #7) in the semifinal with 11 kills.
