Proroguing Parliament: a good idea?

It seems that we only heard the word a short time ago, and already we're hearing it again. Just before the new year, Prime Minister Stephen Harper decided to "prorogue" Parliament—take a recess—until after the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver are wrapped up.

What do you think of parliament being  prorogued? Is this, as critics say, a mockery of Parliamentary government? Or, as the Conservatives say, needed to make a "clean break and reboot Parliament" now that the economy is no longer in crisis?
