Talking about dialects

You like potato and I like potahto, You like tomato and I like tomahto
Potato, potahto, Tomato, tomahto, Let's call the whole thing off ...

So goes the classic song by Louis Armstrong. The way we speak says a lot about ourselves, our backgrounds and where we grew up.

And now researchers in Dalhousie's School of Human Communication Disorders are interested in the similarities and differences between dialects in the province. Michael Kiefte, principal investigator, and Elizabeth Kay-Raining Bird, co-investigator, are collecting and analyzing speech samples.
