Flood in the A&A

Dalhousie staffers in the Registrar’s Office and Human Resources needed to keep their galoshes on when they turned up for work yesterday morning.

When the first staff members arrived at 6 a.m. to the Registrar’s Office, on the first floor of the Henry Hicks Arts and Administration Building, they discovered eight offices, a storage closet and a kitchen were waterlogged. It was determined that a hot water tank in the kitchen ruptured some time in the night.

Downstairs, in Human Resources, the flooding was worse. At least an inch or two of water covered the floors, soaking carpets and damaging electronic equipment.

Phone service to the main inquiry line (494-2450) in the Registrar’s Office was temporarily disrupted, but in-person service and e-mail service continued.

Human Resources offices will be closed until further notice, but phone and e-mail messages may be left.
