Maggie Morrison has been selected as this week’s Dalhousie University female athlete of the week. Morrison was key in two must-win matches over the weekend. Although the squad missed making playoffs, this was the first time the women’s volleyball team captured wins in back-to-back games in two seasons. Ms. Morrison, a third-year captain, collected 11 kills, 10 digs and seven stuff blocks in Friday’s four-set win over St. FX. On Saturday, she had 10 kills, two digs and seven stuff blocks. Her seven stuff blocks were a match high for the Tigers this season. She is enrolled in the commerce program and is originally from Sydney, N.S.
Sander Ratsep has been selected as this week’s Dalhousie University male athlete of the week. He came off the Tigers’ bench with strong performances in both AUS playoff games against UNB. In Sunday’s must-win match he captured 12 kills, three digs and one stuff block and was named athlete of the match. The London, Ont. native is an arts student and in his second year of eligibility with the Tigers.
The men's volleyball team forced game three in men's AUS volleyball playoffs. This game will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at Dalplex. Tickets are $5 for adults, $5 for alumni, faculty and staff, $3 for non-Dal students, and free for Dal students with I.D.
