Former Dalhousie Tiger men's hockey player Derrick Pyke was cheering louder than most when the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night to win the Stanley Cup.

Pyke played four seasons for the Tigers following a major junior career that had stops in Drummondville and Halifax. He completed his BScRBM in 2002 and was employed in the marketing department of the Halifax Mooseheads before moving on to the big show in Raleigh, NC, where he works as a sponsorship sales executive for the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes.
