Planning's 'anchor' creates a welcoming environment

Dorothy Leslie has been an invaluable asset and a caring friend during herlong service with the School of Planning.

Leslie has recently retired from her position as an executive assistant. Director Jill Grant notes that Leslie has been the department's 'anchor' over the years. Her keen organizational skills and strong work ethic were notable.

It was often Dorothy who was the first to hear directly about student worries, whether those were academic, financial or personal. Long after graduation, many alumni continue to keep in touch with her, which is a tribute to the connections they made with her made during their student days.

"Dorothy was a model for all who are an integral part of a strong community," says Benjamin Hoff, of the graduate student society. "She lifted students and faculty to higher levels. This may have meant simply a smile, or it could have been help in finding difficult information, or granting favours that greatly increased her workload."
