ESS Scholarships
College of Sustainability Second-Year Scholarship
The College of Sustainability offers a scholarship to an ESS student who has completed the first year of their ESS Major/Honours and intends on continuing their studies into their second year of an ESS Major/Honours. The student awarded the scholarship will have achieved outstanding academic performance in their first ESS year and also demonstrated an engagement in activities that furthers the cause of sustainability, diversity and equity in their community during the past several years. Community can include the College of Sustainability, Dalhousie University or the student’s residential community.
The application will consist of a form available in early May on which the student will briefly describe their academic achievements and activities related to sustainability. A letter of reference will be required. The due date is normally the first of June of the year the scholarship is awarded.
Vince Ginley Scholarship
The Vince Ginley fund provides one or more annual scholarships to students who are entering their third year and fourth year registered in ESS Major/Honours program. The recipients are selected based on their cumulative grade point average (GPA) by the ESS Awards Committee and funds are awarded in the Spring for the subsequent academic year.
No application required.

The cover letter should explain how the proposed travel will contribute to research experiences or to the application or expansion of the undergraduate academic experience. The budget should include all expected sources of income (including other successful and unsuccessful grant applications) and expenses.
