Research Topics:
  • Invertebrate neuronal signalling
  • Neurotransmitter release & recycling
  • Transmembrane Transporters
  • Search for neuronal biomarkers
  • Methods: HPLC, microdialysis, imaging, behavioural
  • Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis regulation

Education

1997- Ph.D. - Institute of Pharmacology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Kraków, Poland
1999-2003 Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, Dalhousie University
2003-2007 National Institute on Drug Abuse, NIH, Baltimore, MD

Research Interest

My primary area of research lies in neurotransmitters and their transporters—cellular and molecular mechanisms investigated using invertebrate and vertebrate models. Currently, I'm mostly focused on histamine (photoreceptor neurotransmitter) recycling in the eye of Drosophila. Other areas include modeling of human disorders (e.g., depression, addiction etc.) in the fruit fly.
