Funding Opportunities

Get Paid to Get Your Degree

Graduate students in oceanography are supported financially while they pursue their MSc and PhD degrees.  Several sources of funding are available to support students.  The most common sources of support are research grants awarded to faculty members.  The way to find out about potential opportunities provided by research grants is to contact faculty members with research interests similar to yours.  The other common sources of support for students are scholarships that are awarded by various funding agencies.  In Oceanography, the three most common sources of scholarship support over the years have been:

· National Sciences and Engineering Research Council Scholarships (NSERC) Canada Graduate Scholarships;

· Nova Scotia Research and Innovation Graduate Scholarships;

· Killam Foundation Predoctoral Scholarships.

A more comprehensive list of scholarship opportunities is maintained by the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Dalhousie.
