Undergraduate Research for Pay or as a Volunteer
Each semester, a limited number of paid research positions are available in the Department of Chemistry. These positions are offered by individual faculty researchers and the terms of employment are at their discretion. Previous academic and research experience are strongly considered. Interested students are encouraged to browse the Departmental website, particularly under the "Research" and "Faculty" links, to familiarize themselves with the breadth of research opportunities available and to contact specific faculty members whose research may be of particular interest in order to inquire about possible paid research positions.
Volunteer positions are also available in most areas of chemical research. These positions are also offered by individual faculty researchers and the terms of the position are at their discretion. Such volunteer opportunities are a great way to obtain research experience and can be a good way to learn about the research environment. Interested students are encouraged to browse the Departmental website, particularly under the "Research" and "Faculty" links, to familiarize themselves with the breadth of research opportunities available and to contact specific faculty members whose research may be of particular interest in order to inquire about possible volunteer opportunities.
Advertised paid and volunteer positions in the Department of Chemistry will be posted on the bulletin board outside of classroom 226. Please note that if you are interested in this type of position, it is still recommended that you contact directly any faculty members whose research is of interest to you, as not all positions will be advertised.
