Jeux du Commerce Central hosted by Dalhousie for first time

Posted by Rowe School of Business on January 25, 2013 in News

The Rowe School of Business at Dalhousie University hosted the 2013 Jeux du Commerce Central (JDCC) for the first time since its creation in 1989.

The prestigious competition pits leading business schools against one another in a fun but rigorous test of academic, athletic and social events. This year’s competition drew over 500 commerce students from 13 business schools to Halifax.

The awards banquet was electrifying, with participants cheering the JDC chant “We are all best friends.” The Rowe School of Business took top honours in the Accounting category for the third time in four years. Congratulations to the team of Ruki Watson, Chantelle Loucks and Andrew Murdoch coached by Tammy Crowell!

Dalhousie had over 40 participants this year who have been training diligently with faculty coaches since October. “Students spent countless hours preparing for competition, which includes a three-hour isolation period before presenting to a panel of top-notch judges. A special thank-you goes to Patricia Halim, Kathryn McNally (captains), Dan Shaw and Dr. Binod Sundararajan (faculty advisors) for their dedication,” said Greg Hebb, Director, Rowe School of Business.

Organizing an event for over 500 participants and their coaches is by no means a small undertaking. The Organizing Committee, led by Taylor Thompson and Fabrice Vermeer, was hard at work for over a year ensuring no detail was overlooked. Congratulations to the committee and the numerous volunteers for their tireless work.

Plans are already being made to compete in the 2014 JDC Central. Consider participating in this great event to hone your presentation skills, analyze real world issues and make long-lasting friendships. Stay tuned for announcements on how to get involved.
