Posted by Rowe School of Business on January 9, 2013 in News

The Rowe School of Business at Dalhousie University is one of 16 teams from around the world to compete in the 1st annual Global Family Enterprise Case Competition (FECC) January 9-12, 2013. The FECC will match undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in universities and colleges with the world’s finest family business programs.

“While family enterprises dominate the economic landscape and are the biggest contributors to job creation and communities, there was no case competition in the world that exclusively focused on family enterprise cases,” said Dr. Pramodita Sharma of the University of Vermont School of Business Administration, which is hosting the competition. “We are very excited to launch this competition in January and are already looking forward to next year.”

“The Centre for Family Business and Regional Prosperity at Dalhousie University is committed to supporting and growing family businesses in Atlantic Canada through education, research and outreach initiatives. The Global Family Enterprise Case Competition offers our students a valuable opportunity in experiential learning, with an impressive field of competitors from across the world,” says Centre Director Leslie Crowell. “Most importantly, it speaks to the uniqueness of family business, and the importance of this field of study. The Centre is delighted to support our team of Bachelor of Management students along with coach Dr. Robert Blunden, in their pursuit of the first-ever UVM Family Enterprise Case Cup!” Pictured above (l to r) are team members Alex Kleiser, Max Werner, Evan Hallward and Sean Tait.
