About

Dr. Andrew Peacock came to Dalhousie University in 1982. During his career he was involved in the areas of Human Resource Management, Business Strategy and Information Technology. He pioneered the use of a student presentation seminar for the MBA courses in Human Resource Management. In 1984 he was a founding member of the Courseware Development Project. This project brought in over $3 million in private donor funding that included putting a PC on every professor's desk and wiring them together. This project earned the School of Business the reputation as "Canada's Most Technologically Advanced Business School."

Andy, as known by his friends and colleagues, contributed to the local IT sector in several ways. He took sabbatical from Dalhousie to work with Digital Electronic Company in Massachusetts, returning to Halifax to teach and develop or co-develop new courses in MIS at the MBA level. He took leave from Dal to help a Halifax-based high tech start-up company and worked as CEO of BDI (Business Development Inc.), a company owned by Dalhousie University, the Province of Nova Scotia, and a consortium in Scotland.

Returning to Dalhousie, his final years were devoted to teaching in the undergraduate strategy area. Students selected him as undergraduate professor of the year in 1997.
