Research Interests

Dr. Attig’s research occurs at the interface between financial theory and practice, with particular focus on linkages between corporate governance, CSR/ESG and corporate policies. His research interests include investigating the determinants and economic implications of greenwashing and integrating machine learning and textual analysis to address finance and business ethics questions.

  • 2019 – Member (panel one) and vice-chair (full panel) of the international adjudication committee for the Open Research Area, a collaborative research funding initiative of the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR; France), Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG; Germany), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC; UK), and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC; Canada).
  • 2019 – My paper “The global financial crisis, family control and dividend policy” (Financial Management, FM 2016) was selected from among ALL papers published in FM in the recent past on corporate governance and cited in the virtual issue of Financial Management titled “Monitoring Management”.
  • 2016 – Canada Research Chair in Finance (Tier 2), renewal.
