Research Interests
Professor Foster’s research investigates the evolution of organizational social networks through the lens of strategic change and adaptation. In particular, it focuses on the discretionary intraorganizational (or informal) networks, and the way in which individual interactions are shaped by the formal organization (structures, procedures and routines) and individual preferences. This program of research argues that organizations have an unconscious or unintended influence on individual preference for interaction partners.
