Janet Lee Myers Memorial Bursary

Purpose:

To provide one or more bursaries annually to students in the BSW program at Dalhousie University who are in need of financial assistance. The bursary was established in 1998 by family, friends and colleagues of the late Janet Lee Myers BSW ’88 to honour her 20 years of professional service in the community. Janet is fondly remembered for her energetic, yet quiet nature, her unique humour, and her untiring dedication to others. These qualities of integrity and compassion were a constant inspiration to all who knew her.

 Conditions:

  1. Earnings from the fund will be used to provide one or more annual bursaries to students enrolled in the BSW program at Dalhousie University.
  2. The earnings available for spending on an annual basis will be determined by the Endowment Management Policy as approved by the Board of Governors of Dalhousie University.
  3. The recipients of the Janet Lee Myers Memorial Bursary will have demonstrated financial need and the highest values of humanity, community and service in the study of social work and in contributions to the School of Social Work.
  4. If in any given year there are no students who meet the criteria as specified, the earnings for that year will be added to the capital of the fund.
