In Memoriam
Meredith Megan Brison-Brown, November 14, 1983 - July 15, 2024.
Dalhousie's School of Occupational Therapy sadly shares the passing of Meredith Brison-Brown, a valued member of the Master of Occupational Therapy Class of 2024, on July 15, 2024. Love of the planet, people and other animals influenced Meredith's decision to complete a Bachelor's in Environmental Sustainability and International Studies at Dalhousie University, eventually winning multiple awards and a spot on the Dean's list. In 2022, Meredith enrolled in the School of OT's Master of Occupational Therapy program and, while at Dalhousie, made incredible strides in advocating for the rights of people with disabilities within Dal, the community, and beyond. As President of the Dalhousie Accessibility and Inclusion Society (DAIS) and Nova Scotia Director of the National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS), Meredith worked tirelessly to ensure change despite simultaneously facing disabling barriers and challenges. Meredith's advocacy work has left a lasting effect on our community, inspiring us to strive for a more inclusive society. Meredith's life was cut unexpectedly short, but the powerful impact on lives touched, and memories of innate warmth and kindness will remain.
Meredith's influence continues through the donation of occupational therapy books by Meredith's parents, a gift already being appreciated by our 1st year students.
Dalhousie Campus flags were lowered on July 27, the day of Meredith Megan Brison-Brown's celebration of life ceremony. The School extends its deepest sympathies to family members and all who knew and loved Meredith.
