The Emergency Nurses Association and The Journal of Emergency Nursing have selected Kate MacWilliams and co-authors for the 2017 Authors of the Year Award regarding the following publication:
MacWilliams, K., Hughes, J., Aston, M., Field, S., Wight-Moffatt, F. (2016) Understanding the Experience of Miscarriage in the Emergency Department. Journal of Emergency Nursing. online 6 August 2016
The publication is based on the thesis research that Kate completed for her Master’s degree in the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University. Since graduating in 2014, Kate has been working as the Advanced Practice Clinical Educator in the Emergency Department at St Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto. She continues to mobilize the findings from her Master’s Thesis to improve the experience for women who are miscarrying in Emergency Department settings. One critical step forward to date has been the Province of Ontario’s engagement of Kate on an expert advisory panel to develop guidelines for the care of women undergoing miscarriage.
