Biography

Prior to entry into nursing, Lisa Doucet earned a business degree from Mount St. Vincent University before pursing nursing ultimately obtaining her Master of Nursing from Athabasca University. Her nursing career spanned home health, oncology, and palliative care prior to becoming a nurse educator at Dalhousie University. She is the co-founder of the Autism Nova Scotia Yarmouth chapter.

Her teaching role currently focuses on community health nursing, social responsibility, family nursing, and leadership in various roles including course professor, simulation laboratory instructor, tutorial lead, and clinical instructor in long term care. Her academic contributions include publications and presentations related to social determinants of health, dementia care, community care, long-term care, and was a member of the advisory panel for the Community Health Nurses Canada’s Home Health Competencies.
