Meagan Howardson

Biography

Meagan obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Dalhousie in 2018. She worked in a variety of specialties throughout her career, specializing in critical care at the Halifax Infirmary. Meagan began teaching in the clinical role at Dalhousie in 2021 and has continued on to teach in the lab and in lecture moving forward. She obtained her Master of Education degree at Mount Saint Vincent University in 2022. In her graduate studies she worked with Mobile Outreach Street Health to provide primary health care to the Halifax homeless population.
Meagan centers her educational approach around respect for the holistic individual. She uses feminist theories to guide her practice in promoting the sharing of personal thoughts, emotions, and stories. Meagan uses a person-first perspective when working with learners, acknowledging the mental and physical health of her students as priority. She shares her passion for mindfulness by regularly offering healthy coping strategies for her students.
