Biography

Colleen McNamee holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dalhousie University (2005) and a Master of Nursing from the University of Toronto (2012). Her clinical expertise is primarily with medical-surgical acute care adult patient populations as well as care of the elderly and post-acute patient populations and she has also held a number of professional practice and education leadership positions in both Ontario and Nova Scotia. Colleen has over a decade of teaching in both academic and clinical practice settings, including facilitating learning for undergraduate and graduate nursing students, nurses and other health care professionals, educators, and health care leaders. Her education programming and delivery in a variety of practice settings has had a measurable impact on both provider and patient outcomes.

Colleen’s professional and scholarly interests include transition to professional nursing practice, interprofessional education and collaboration, nursing leadership for knowledge translation and best practice implementation, the intersection between nursing relational practices and patient safety, and issues of diversity, power, and privilege in health care.
