Ismael Aquino is the Nova Scotia Provincial Director and Atlantic Regional Director of Education for the Canadian Red Cross.

A respected leader with more than 15 years of management experience, he has further contributed to projects with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Responding to emergency situations
Experienced in such disaster responses as Swissair 111, Kosovo Refugee Relief, 9/11, Hurricane Juan and the New Brunswick floods of 2008, Ismael also served on a mission to tsunami- affected Sri Lanka as part of the Organizational Development & Capacity Building Evaluation Team.

Leadership Excellence
Ismael is proud of the service he provides assisting Atlantic Canadians. He has led the Canadian Red Cross in Nova Scotia to a number of honours including winning gold at the 2011 IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Awards.

Educational pursuits
Earning a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Ismael also completed training in program management, specifically in the areas of emergency/disaster management, community health, injury prevention and violence & abuse prevention.
