Master of Nursing (Professional Option)

What is the difference between the MN Nurse Practitioner Stream and the MN Professional Stream? How do I know which is right for me?

While both degree options are master’s degrees, they differ in several important aspects. The MN Nurse Practitioner Program is a practice-based, 36-credit hour program which prepares students to be accredited Nurse Practitioners. Upon completion of courses, students must successfully complete the Canadian Nurse Practitioner Exam: Family/All Ages. Applicants to the Nurse Practitioner Stream must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse (active practitioner) in a province/territory in Canada (provide proof of current RN licensure)

The MN Professional Stream Program is a 30-credit hour, course-based program, which prepares students to assume clinical and/or professional leadership roles, in advanced practice nursing. Applicants to the Professional Stream option must be licensed to practice as an RN in Canada or in a foreign country.
