About

Creating a healthier world

Whether caring directly for patients, conducting valuable research or engaged in public policy advocacy, nurses play a critical role in our health care system.

At Dalhousie, we’re on the leading edge of nursing education, preparing future Nurses for the vital roles they’ll play in the creation and maintenance of a healthy society.

Values drive success

The School of Nursing was established in 1949 and is part of Dalhousie’s Faculty of Health Professions (FHP). Our success is reflected by the professional competence and compassion of our graduates, the quality of research produced by our faculty and the contributions we make to health-related public policy.

The foundation of each success story is our commitment to our core set of values. Dalhousie’s School of Nursing is dedicated to the following principles:

•    Leadership in education, research, scholarship and practice
•    Diversity, equality and social justice
•    Internal and external collaboration
•    A learning environment based on creativity and critical thinking
•    Strong community relationships
•    Integrity and accountability

The Dalhousie difference

The School of Nursing fosters a strong sense of community among students, faculty and staff. We work together on a wide range of academic, professional, social and charitable initiatives, generating positive outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.

The community you’ll serve is also the community that will embrace you. Dalhousie and the broader Halifax community are known for their rich history, warm people and East Coast charm.
