- Physiotherapy's Dr. Nancy Walker has received the Canadian Physiotherapy Life Membership Award, which will be presented at Congress in Montreal later this year.
- Pharmacy's Professor Kim Sponagle received the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada/Janssen Award for her role as part of the interprofessional team that developed and implemented the Interprofessional Stroke Case and Module. Professor Sponagle received her award at the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada Annual Awards Banquet in Ottawa on June 13, 2018.
- Physiotherapy's Dr. Rececca Moyer is the Principal Investigator on three projects that recently received funding:
- "Do walking patterns influence the effect of a 30-minute continuous walk on imaging markers of disease progression in patients with knee osteoarthritis?" Nova Scotia Health Authority Research Fund - $24,950.
- "Characterizing altered hip pathomechanics in patients with femoral acetabular impingement" Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation - $14,996.
- "TRIAGE: Translating clinical biomechanics and rehabilitation research to improve arthritis guidelines and education." Canadian Foundation for Innovation JELF - $303,595.
- "Do walking patterns influence the effect of a 30-minute continuous walk on imaging markers of disease progression in patients with knee osteoarthritis?" Nova Scotia Health Authority Research Fund - $24,950.
- Nursing students Kalkidan Gebre (BScN) and Rachel Ollivier (MN) were recently awarded Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships. The scholarship supports students in cross-cultural exchanges to Commonwealth countries. Both students will be placed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Kalkidan will be working with Pastoral Activities and Services for People with AIDS, Dar es Salaam Archdiocese (PASADA), and Rachel will be working with Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.
