"Shaping Academia for the Public Good: Critical Reflections on the CHSRF/CIHR Chair Program", edited by Louise Potvin and Pat Armstrong, describes lessons learned from a program that CHSRF (now CFHI) and CIHR funded with other sponsors including NSHRF. Health services and nursing research Chairs trained researchers to conduct innovative research, to develop partnerships with government, community and health care delivery organizations and to mobilize scientific knowledge to inform health care practice, programs and policies. Dr. Ingrid Sketris (College of Pharmacy and IMPART) has a chapter in the book titled "Service Learning within a Multi-Stakeholder Program." The book serves as a resource for educators, applied health researchers and policy makers who are bridging the gap between academia and health care organizations.
