Our Admission Process
Our Admissions Criteria |
---|
- A 4-year bachelor's degree (honours or equivalent) with a minimum B+ average (3.3 GPA). A background in health care and/or a clinical setting is not required. International transcripts will be converted to the Dalhousie equivalent to determine eligibility.
- Proficiency in quantitative reasoning. This is demonstrated through an undergraduate or graduate statistics course from a recognized university, or equivalent performance on the applicable GRE, GMAT or MCAT sections. If taking the GMAT, a GMAT Focus score of 515 or above is required. Applicants for the JD/MHA may rely upon their LSAT score - see the JD/MHA page for details.
- Evidence of English Language proficiency (international students only). If English is not your first language you will need to demonstrate your ability to complete graduate-level study in English. There are some exemptions to this condition: the Faculty of Graduate Studies provides detailed information (link to language proficiency: opens in new tab).

Our Admissions Deadlines |
---|
You may only apply for a September start to our program; there is no winter or spring admission to the MHA.
All applications for September should be submitted for January 31st.
Early application is strongly encouraged.
Late applications may be considered. Reach out to healthadmin@dal.ca if you would like to apply after the deadline.
Your Application Package |
---|
Your application form will need to be completed through dal online.
Your application package should then be sent to healthadmin@dal.ca and the following documents should be included:
- Original transcripts of all previous academic work (sent by the institution).
- If your transcripts do not include a grade of A- or above in a graduate or undergraduate statistics course: your GMAT, GRE or MCAT results. JD/MHA applicants' LSAT results will be shared with us by the Schulich School of Law.
- Your resume.
- A statement of career interests noting reasons for applying to the MHA program.
- Two academic letters of reference. Note: you do not submit these. You will have provided academic email addresses on your application form. A secure link will be sent to your referees.
- International students must provide proof of English language proficiency as per Faculty of Graduate Studies guidance (link to language proficiency information: opens in new tab).
Please note: English Proficiency Test scores do not replace the GMAT/GRE/MCAT requirement.
