Pharmacist preceptors play a critical role in supporting pharmacy learner professional identity formation (PIF), in which learners come to think, feel, and act like a member of their professional community. This virtual session will introduce participants to critical events related to PIF that can occur during experiential learning placements, as well as the role and contribution of preceptors to PIF.  Evidence-informed PIF approaches will be discussed, and participants will leave the session with strategies to intentionally support learner PIF in their precepting and teaching practices.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
·       Define professional identity formation (PIF) and discuss how preceptors have a role in supporting pharmacy learner PIF.
·       Describe critical events for PIF in pharmacy learners during experiential learning placements.
·       Identify strategies preceptors can intentionally use to support pharmacy learner PIF.

Session format:
The session will utilize learning strategies, unpack the concept of PIF including presentation of content, and interactive polling/chat questions.
