Adam Casey in action during the final game of the 2015 P.E.I. Tankard provincial men’s curling championship in Alberton on Feb. 10.
Casey, third stone Josh Barry, second stone Anson Carmody and lead Robbie Doherty played three close games, including one just to qualify for the main draw of the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier.
Casey defeated Team Canada’s John Morris 7-4 in Sunday afternoon’s draw, and took a 1-1 (won-lost) record into the evening late draw against British Columbia’s Jim Cotter.
Against Morris, Casey counted single points in five of the 10 ends, and a deuce in another. Casey took a 6-4 lead into the final end, but the game came down to Morris’s hammer shot – he missed a flat double to give Casey a steal of one.
Opening game
The P.E.I. representative, which curls out of the Silver Fox in Summerside and Charlottetown Curling Complex, opened round-robin play with an 8-7 loss to Ontario’s Mark Kean on Saturday night. Ontario scored single points in the ninth and 10th ends for the win.
Casey never led until the eighth end when he took a 7-6 lead.
P.E.I.’s lone game Monday is against Quebec’s Jean-Michel Menard at 4:30 p.m., Atlantic Time.
