Biography
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Postdoctoral fellow (1982-1985); General Motors Research Laboratory, Senior Research Scientist, (1985-1989); TUNS/Dalhousie University, Professor (1989-2013); University of Saskatchewan, Dean of Engineering (2013-2016).
Dr. Kipouros’ area of research is the sustainable production, processing, manufacturing, and performance of reactive metals. Powder metallurgy of reactive metals has been the core of previous work for the processing of aluminum, magnesium and rare earth metals. Evaluation of performance was tested via electrochemical measurements i.e. corrosion. Development of coatings and surface modification are also part of the present research by electroless plating, electroplating and a combination of the two techniques. The response of items produced by additive manufacturing to corrosion is among the current projects of investigation.
