Biography
Dr. Aminul Islam has joined National Research Council of Canada (Energy Mining and Environment portfolio) in December 2015. During his time at NRC, Dr. Islam has been involved in the development of technology for characterizing materials resistance to wear-corrosion attack, database analysis and erosion-corrosion assessment of materials for oil sands application. Dr. Islam has constructed abrasion/erosion maps by combining 20 years of Mining Materials Wear and Corrosion (MMWC) consortium test data. These maps are instrumental for the selection of different classes of material for specific wear/tribo-corrosion application. Dr. Islam has trained and co-supervised a number of highly qualified personnel (HQPs). He has contributed to the innovation and advancement of technology by publishing his research findings in high quality journals and international conferences. Dr. Islam has published 50+ research articles/presentations. To date, his published articles have received 500+ citations and several national/international awards. Dr. Islam is currently serving as a reviewer for Wear of materials, Tribology International, NACE Corrosion and Tribology Transactions. He is also involved in the review process of NSERC and MITACS proposals.
