Biography
Dr. Alain Joseph is a Research Scientist leading Sustainable Energy research, development, and testing at the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). Alain is a graduate of Dalhousie University, where he completed an Interdisciplinary PhD focused on modelling sustainable biomass energy using Systems Analysis techniques. He initiated NSCC’s research programs in energy technology performance monitoring in 2009 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, and obtained funding for the NSCC Applied Energy Research Lab (AERLab) in 2010. Alain’s current focus is applied research that integrates energy hardware, software, and data technologies to improve energy management. The NSCC AERLab collaborates closely with researchers at Dalhousie University on a range of energy projects from piezo-electric energy harvesting to latent-heat energy storage systems. Alain mentors and supervises college and university student researchers, and works with industry partners to move ideas from concept to reality.
