Dr. Sadeghian is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Infrastructure in the Department of Civil and Resource Engineering at Dalhousie University. He is exploring innovative and more sustainable solutions that can be applied to different features of civil engineering infrastructure; including buildings, bridges, water front structures, and underground structures; specially those ones interacting with soil and harsh environment.
His research team is using advanced materials such as fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites and innovative technologies to upgrade existing infrastructure and build new ones with longer life span, less environmental footprint, and better service.
Dr. Sadeghian has several publications about FRP-strengthened concrete columns, FRP confinement models, strengthening of slender columns using longitudinal FRPs, sandwich composites, and connections of concrete-filled FRP tubes (CFFTs).
His teaching interests include courses related to mechanics of materials, concrete structures, and structural dynamics.
Dr. Sadeghian is an active member of several professional societies and organizations, including ACI, ASCE, and IIFC. He is an associate member of ACI committee 440 (Fiber Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement) and voting member of ACI sub-committees 440-J (FRP Stay-in-Place Forms), 440-F (FRP Repair and Strengthening), 440-M (FRP Repair of Masonry Structures), and 440-0H (FRP-Reinforced Concrete).
